Murrum Primary School was chosen as this new school’s name following community and Traditional Owner group consultation. Murrum (pronounced moor-room) is a Wurundjeri Woi wurrung language word meaning joeys.

Murrum Primary School acknowledges the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nation as the Traditional Owners of the land on which we live, learn, and play. We pay our respects to Elders past and present, and we honour their enduring connection to Country.
We recognise the Werribee River as a site of deep cultural significance, flowing through the volcanic plains that have sustained generations.
At Murrum PS, we are committed to continuing the Indigenous songlines by connecting through community, sharing stories, and fostering understanding, acceptance, and inclusion. We strive to create a safe and respectful space for learning, growth, and cultural protection.
Our logo signifies the murrum ( joey) surrounded by an indigenous protective shield, boarded by the Werribee River and Toolern Creek, which pays respect to our geographical location.
The diamond shield shape signifies inclusion and keep the members of the community safe and shows protection of all our community members.
The circles surrounded by smaller circles signify people who come together to support each other and our students, from many lands, to live, work and play at Murrum.
